Drawing on archival sources, the contribution seeks to shed more light on the appointments of later-to-become Bishop Matevž Ravnikar (1830–1845) to important ecclesiastic offices – as the Cathedral Canon of the Lamberg canonry in Ljubljana, gubernial councillor in Trieste, and the first Bishop of Trieste–Koper. It also felt pertinent to present Ravnikar’s episcopal coat of arms, which has so far not been given any special treatment.
