The regulation of the riverbed of Pesnica in Styria was the greatest voluntary working action of the young in Slovenia in the year 1946. In July and August there was quite a number of the voluntary youth brigades (with approximately 1600 young men and girls) in action. The average age of the brigadiers was 16 years. At the end of the actions the brigade "Stefan Kovač" from Prekmurje was proclaimed the best in that action and the best among the Slovene voluntary youth brigades in the year 1946 at all. As for the brigadiers from Prekmurje and Styria, who voluntarily took part in the action Pesnica 1946, it is important to take in account that they belonged to the generation, which had been exposed to the worst German and Hungarian denationalizing pressure in its most sensible years of maturing. At the end of the actions every brigadier was granted the special sign of the action.
